The final eight teams have qualified for the College World Series and include:
• Louisiana St.: The Tigers, ranked first by Collegiate Baseball, have won eight straight and will appear in the CWS for the 16th time with the best overall record (57-9) in school history. LSU has won six national baseball championships (1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2009).
• North Carolina: The Tar Heels, ranked second, qualified for their 10th College World Series and are gunning for their first national championship baseball.
• Oregon St.: The Beavers, ranked third, will be making their fourth appearance in the last nine years at the College World Series and fifth overall. OSU has won two national baseball titles.
• Louisville: The Cardinals, ranked fourth, swept Vanderbilt two straight on the road and qualified for the College World Series for the second time in school history. Louisville is seeing its first national championship in baseball.
• N.C. State: The Wolfpack, ranked fifth, swept two straight from Rice at the Raleigh Super Regional, including a 17-inning marathon in the title game, 5-4. N.C. State is making its second trip to the College World Series in history and will be gunning for its first championship.
• UCLA: The Bruins, ranked sixth, advanced to its third College World Series in the past four years. UCLA is seeking its first national title in baseball.
• Mississippi St.: The Bulldogs, ranked seventh, will appear in their ninth College World Series and attempting to win their first national baseball crown.
• Indiana: The Hoosiers, ranked eighth, will be making their first trip to the College World Series after knocking off Florida St. two straight in Tallahassee, Fla. Indiana is ready to shock the world and make a strong run at winning the national title.

The various collegiate summer leagues have already started playing. Many of the leagues now offer formats for viewing games via the Internet as well as updated information on teams, players, coaches and the latest stats.

Louisville Slugger H.S. All-Americans Announced
• Tyler Danish of Durant H.S. National Player Of The Year
TUCSON, Ariz. — The 2013 Louisville Slugger High School All-America team is loaded with amazing athletic achievements from elite baseball players across the USA.
This year’s team features 22 players who were chosen in the first two rounds, including compensation rounds, of the Major League First-Year Baseball Draft.
Leading the list of this year’s winners is RHP/INF Tyler Danish of Durant HS (Plant City, FL) who is the 2013 Louisville Slugger National High School Player of the Year.
Danish posted eye-popping stats this season both on the mound and at the plate to help his team get to the Florida 8A state championship finals where they fell to Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs, FL).
Remarkably, Danish did not give up an earned run the entire season, posting a 15-1 record with 15 complete games, 156 strikeouts, 16 walks in 94 innings. At the plate, he was equally as dominate, batting .411 with 4 doubles, 9 home runs and 27 RBI. He also stole 9 bases.
Danish accomplished this in one of the toughest baseball districts in Florida, according to his coach Butch Valdes. He was chosen in the second round of the draft by the White Sox.
This is the 17th year Louisville Slugger has sponsored the High School All-America teams. Players are nominated by their high school coach and the staff of Collegiate Baseball selects the team.

Louisville Slugger NCAA Div. I All-Americans
• 3B Kris Bryant Named National Player Of The Year
TUCSON, Ariz. — The Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams and National Player of The Year were announced today by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
The 17-man first team, chosen by performances up to regional playoffs and picked by the staff of Collegiate Baseball newspaper, features 12 conference players or pitchers of the year, including:
The first team features one pitcher with 130 strikeouts (Stanford’s Mark Appel), another who only walked two batters in 99.6 innings (Cal. St. Fullerton’s Thomas Eshelman), and one who tossed 12 complete games (Kerry Doane of East Tennessee St.).
The first team offense features remarkable power, line drive hitters and batters who hit for high averages. Five hitters collected 24 or more doubles led by Jimmy Yezzo of Delaware with 28. Illinois’ Justin Parr put together a 33-game hitting streak while five batters hit .390 or above.

Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans
• Freshman Pitcher Of Year Thomas Eshelman
• Freshman Player Of Year Alex Bregman
TUCSON, Ariz. — The 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, features a wealth of baseball talent.
The team is headed by Collegiate Baseball’s Freshman Pitcher of The Year RHP Thomas Eshelman of Cal. St. Fullerton who only walked 2 batters in 107 2/3 innings while posting a 12-2 record and 1.59 ERA.
The Freshman Player of The Year is SS Alex Bregman of Louisiana St. who hit .385 with 17 doubles, 7 triples, 6 homers and 52 RBI. He also stole 15 of 16 bases.

Collegiate Baseball’s 2013 Pitching Coach Of The Year

All officially rostered pitching coaches from all levels of collegiate baseball are eligible. Selection is based on the total coach profile. The nominee should exemplify the best qualities of a collegiate coach who represents his school with honor and dignity. He should be an outstanding mentor who trains and teaches the whole player, in both life skills off the field as well as competitive skills on the field.

Describe the nominee’s statistical achievements, years he has been a pitching coach, teaching techniques, special drills, bullpen workouts, weight training and conditioning regimens, charts and other reasons which show his outstanding coaching skills.
